Ultimate Karting Championship Round 1
A last minute change in the regulations meant we also decided to do this years UKC championship we did it last year and thoroughly enjoyed it so I was pleased to be able to do this years. Due to clashes with LGM it’s now only a four round championship but will still be a lot of fun as Paul and his team put on a great event
The venue was Whilton Mill so we were expecting a decent result, practice went well running in an engine and I was still quick. When we went new tyre and race motor I was 2nd fastest with my team mate so we were very happy
Grids are decided by a random draw instead of quali so you get a start near the front, the middle and the back Heat 1 started 2nd finished 1st
Heat 2 started 17th finished 6th Heat 3 started 27th got taken out when 15th so finished last
The DNF really hurt as we would of been starting the prefinal right up the front instead of 14th Prefinal started 14th finished 8th Final started 8th had a really poor start and dropped 3 places, a red flag then happened due to a crash luckily my friend Will was ok
Race restarted but I got caught napping and didn’t capitalise on the restart nether the less I got my head down and managed to get up to 6th then I made a move for 5th that didn’t work and I got hung out to dry on the outside and lost a load of places finally crossing the line a disappointing 10th
So a weekend that showed my pace is up there with the very best on track just more work on race craft which will come the more time I spend running up the sharp end with the best
This weekend sees me back racing at Kimbolton for round 2 of the British Kart Championship, it’s a track I’ve only ever been to once before and it rained all day, this weekend it’s goona be hot so let’s see what we can do
Thanks as ever to my team and Jonny for the power
