Silverstone BTCC: Jake Hill grabs two podiums and a top four in full-throttle weekend
Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport left Silverstone with momentum intact after Jake Hill turned genuine pace into a tidy points haul — P2, P3 and P4 across the three races at the home of British motorsport.

The weekend started steady: P13 and P5 in practice before Hill pushed his #1 WSR-run BMW 330i M Sport into the top-12 shootout. Q2 ran dry and quick; by Q3 the skies closed and the team made the right call, bolting on full wets. That gamble paid off — Jake delivered a slick wet lap to lock P3 on the grid and gave himself the platform he wanted for Sunday.

Race 1 was textbook execution. Dropping to P4 off the line, Hill picked his moments, slipped back into P3 and then nailed a gutsy move into Copse to shove past for P2. A long safety-car phase bunched the field, but he held position to the flag for a solid runner-up finish — his fifth podium of the season.

Race 2 began with promise as Jake launched to the lead on the harder compound. However the combination of the grippier soft-running rivals and a smaller TTB allocation left the BMW exposed, and he was shuffled back to third as boosted cars swept past. Still: another podium, another points haul.

Race 3's reverse-grid finale handed him P10, but Hill treated the midfield like a meat grinder, slicing forward with calm, clever moves to emerge P4 at the chequered flag. No drama, just efficient, hungry progress.

Two podiums and a fourth: that’s the kind of day that tightens a championship challenge. Hill now sits fourth in the standings on 271 points, just four back from the top three — impressive given he missed Croft through illness. Next stop: Brands Hatch on 4/5 October for the season finale, with all eyes set on clinching third in the drivers' standings.

Jake Hill, Driver – Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport:
“Another fantastic weekend at Silverstone for both myself and the team, and we’re now right in the battle for third in the championship with just one round to go! To be back on the podium twice was hugely rewarding and a reflection of all the hard work we’ve put in over recent race weekends. The team was flawless throughout, so a big thank you to everyone involved—it felt great to be back fighting at the front where we belong. Now, all focus shifts to Brands Hatch, with P3 in the championship on the line. Bring it on!”
