Laser Tools Rally Team at Horiba D’Isis stages MIRA
The Laser Tools Rally Team was in action on Saturday 28th April at the MIRA proving grounds near Hinckley. This was the second round of the 2018 championship and after a successful first round we were hoping to do well at this round. The weather was really wet and this made the stages very slippy as we set off into the first stage we were not sure how bad they would be as we had not been here in the wet before but a misfire after about a mile made sure we didn’t go to aggressive in the poor condition and this cost us about 30 seconds but we were still in 24th place after stage 1.
With the misfire cured we set off into stage two and set a good time that moved us up the order to 21st as we were now getting used to the wet conditions even with the car aquaplaning in 5th gear on the straights. A lack of concentration as we caught a car up on stage 3 resulted in a high speed spin and we lost another 30 seconds as we got stuck on the wet grass. We had a really good push on the next long stages all over 16 miles long and we managed to finish 18th overall and 10th in class, but most importantly we were 1st in the registered championship contenders and we are now leading the championship tables.
We now can look forward to the next round at Grafton Underwood near Kettering on the 17th June.
