Jacob Ashcroft Round 1 of the BKC Championship at Whilton Mill

Well what a weekend we had at Round1 of the BKC Championship at Whilton Mill Go Karting and Outdoor activities
Saturday practice was awful, weather was all over the place it left us all feeling like we were in for some pain come race day, Jacob had other plans
Race day
Went out for first practice on brandnew wets and straight away Jacob was flying, posted the fastest lap of the session,
Then came qualifying he was straight out on track running out on his own with no one to pace against and again posted the fastest time of our group,
Race 1 and he started 3rd on the grid, drove a fantastic race with the front 6 pulling away from the pack and resulted in our best ever finish of 2nd place
Race 2 this time starting 4th on the grid again the front pack of 4 pulling away from the rest, they had a fantastic battle and at one point Jacob took the lead, sadly he couldn’t hold it to the end of the race but still finished a fantastic 4th place
Those results put him into the A final starting in 7th place,
A good start in the final saw him get up to 5th place before an incident brought out the red flag. The restart saw Jacob in the leading pack of 6 separated by only a few tenths, heading into the last lap he was in 6th place when the kart in front spun which saw Jacob having to take to the wet grass to avoid hitting it, he then had to drive 15m across soaking wet grass on slicks and rejoin the track while still holding his position, now being in 5th place he had to drive the remaining 3 corners on dirty tyres to cross the line for our best ever finish of 5th place, and the best bit was getting the fastest lap in the final by half a second
We were absolutely shattered but very very happy with our start to the championship and can’t wait to get going again in round 2 on the Easter weekend at Hooton Park in Cheshire.
Thanks to our sponsors Laser Tools for your support, Shox Performance for a great engine and Martin for your help yesterday.
