Over the weekend of April 23-24 we were at Donington Park for the first round of the 2022 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship campaign with Aiden Moffat and Dexter Paterson keen to get to grips with the new technology. For 2022 we see a whole new hybrid powertrain with new engine suppliers M-Sport teaming up with world-renowned Cosworth who are providing the hybrid systems. That was the plan anyway. Back to Donington Park for the first time since the beginning of August last year. Donington Park welcomed the 116Trophy for round two of the series (May 23). Many new faces joined the grid for with 32 cars competing. Qualifying was completed in overcast but dry conditions and pole position went to Anthony Seddon and Alan Corfield in the number 5 machine. A first time front row start for the number 77 machine of Ormerod and Creighton saw them line up in P2. The best was saved until last, however, as the talented racer stormed from eighth on the grid to claim his 15th BTCC career victory and the first for the incredible Laser Tools Racing Infiniti Q50. He made a number of fantastic moves during the race with his final pass by Chris Smiley’s Hyundai clinching the victory, much to the delight of everyone at Laser Tools Racing. The Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship now moves on to Brands Hatch, with three races taking place on the legendary Grand Prix circuit next weekend (8/9 August).
