Nelson King Delivers Exceptional Performance at the Vertu Motors MINI CHALLENGE JCW Championship, Silverstone Round

September 23-24 brought exhilarating racing action to Silverstone as the Vertu Motors Mini Challenge JCW Championship entered its sixth round. Laser Tools Racing driver Nelson King showcased exceptional skill and determination throughout the weekend.

It began with the Saturday morning’s all-important qualifying session: an impressive P2, narrowly missing pole position by a mere 0.065 seconds. Unfortunately, a lap that could have secured pole was invalidated due to a track limits infringement. Nevertheless, this setback fuelled Nelson's determination for the upcoming races.

In Race 1, Nelson briefly settled into P3 and engaged in an intense battle with championship leader Dan Zelos for the second spot. Despite relentless efforts, he secured a commendable third-place finish.

On Sunday, Race 2 added an unexpected challenge with rain showers making the track slippery. Nelson, who had not raced on a wet Silverstone before, demonstrated his adaptability by climbing from P3 to P2, narrowly missing the lead.

Race 3 presented a unique challenge as a reverse-grid draw placed Nelson in P3. An initial stall pushed him down to P18. Nevertheless, showcasing the resilience he's known for, Nelson charted a remarkable comeback. Clocking multiple fastest laps, he carved his way through the grid, reaching P7 by the race's end. A subsequent 5-second penalty adjusted his position to P10.

Nelson's outstanding performance over the weekend now places him just 5 points behind third place in the championship standings. He expressed gratitude to his partners for their unwavering support and looks forward to delivering a memorable performance at the championship's final round at his home circuit, Brands Hatch.

"This weekend was a rollercoaster of emotions,” Nelson commented. “From the highs of almost securing pole to the challenges in each race, I'm proud of what we achieved. With only 5 points separating me from third in the championship and the final round on my home circuit, I'm more motivated than ever to end on a high note."

Stay tuned for more thrilling racing action as Nelson King continues to impress in the Vertu Motors MINI CHALLENGE JCW Championship.
