Successful Weekend for Jack Mitchell
Laser Tools Racing's Jack Mitchell reports:
Our weekend started off well, qualifying pole in wet conditions with a comfortable margin.
Race 1 – Due to clutch slip, car crept forward causing me to have a bad start off the line, dropping back to 3rd position. Having the pace in the dry conditions I started to catch up with the leaders and eventually I overtook Pointon for 2nd place, starting to catch up to the leader, but ran out of laps due to an earlier safety car incident.
Race 2 – Due to the creeping incident at the start of race 1, I was given a grid penalty pushing me back to 10th place for the start. Made a place off the start and held my position until the tyres started to come on. After the first safety car I knew I had the pace in wet conditions and started to pick off the other drivers one by one, fighting my way up to the leader, where I managed to find a way past on the exit of the first corner and then pulled a comfortable lead for the remaining two laps.Good to get another win!
Race 3 – Reversed grid for this race put me on P4 for the start. And I got a good start – keeping my position off the line, but then got blocked into the first corner, losing me a place and dropping back to 5th. So a bit of work to do, but managed to find my way past two of the other cars in front, pushing me up to 3rd position. I started battling for 2nd, but the car was losing aero due to driving so close behind the other car, which was forcing me wide on the first corner, due to under steer. This lead to a 5-second track limits penalty pushing me back to 5th place.
But very positive results in quite difficult conditions, so really looking forward now to the Brands Hatch weekend (30 September 0 1st October). See you there!
